The battery

A suite of diagnostic tests, one platform

A curated selection of tests to support identification of the underlying cause of listening difficulties, including auditory processing disorder, memory, or language. Administered by a clinician on a computer, with good quality adult headphones in any quiet room.

Age 6+

Testing of Listening Difficulty — Universal

Measures the ability to recognise and understand sentences in realistic classroom-like noise and reverberation, reporting the signal-to-noise ratio at which 75%!o(MISSING)f words are understood. Identifies whether a deficit exists and its magnitude. Available in Australian and UK accents.

Listening in Spatialized Noise — Sentences

Uses 3D audio to detect Spatial Processing Disorder (SPD) . SPD is a common cause of speech-in-noise difficulty and a frequent long-term consequence of repeated otitis media in early childhood. Available in Australian, North American and UK accents.

LiSN-U

Age 6+

Listening in Spatialized Noise — Universal

A language-free variant using nonsense syllables built from phonemes common to many languages. Suitable for clients from a range of language backgrounds — no vocabulary or English proficiency required.

Age 5+

Auditory Closure Test

Measures the ability to use language knowledge to infer words obscured by noise. Helps determine whether a client being assessed for APD may in fact have a contributing language deficit.

DigiSpan

Age 4+

Digit Span Test

An adaptive, computer-administered test of short-term and working memory, in forward and backward span. Rules out a memory deficit as the cause of poor scores on other tests, and flags unreliable results.

Age 7+

Dichotic Digits difference Test

Presents different pairs of digits to each ear simultaneously. In free recall, the client responds to all sounds. In directed ear, the client responds to sounds in only the specified ear. The test also includes a diotic control condition.
